COMING SUMMER 2023

We are excited to announce that beginning at the Summer 2023 tryouts, Sidewinders Lacrosse will become the Clippers Lacrosse Club! 

 

We will field teams in the 2027 - 2034 age groups. and become operational for the Fall 2023.

We realize that you may have questions, so for that reason, we have created a quick FAQ that you can see below. Additionally, you can always feel free to reach out to us - we are happy to answer any questions that you may have about all of the lacrosse options that we are offering from the CAC.

​Tryouts will be on July 13th | 14th | 16th at Bell Branch Park. 

  • Thursday, July 13th & Friday, July 14th:

    • 5:30pm - 7:00pm | 2031 - 2034​

    • 7:30pm - 9:00pm | 2027 - 2030
       

  • Sunday, July 16th:

    • 9:00am - 10:30am | 2032 - 2034​

    • 11:00am - 12:30pm | 2029 - 2031

Clippers Lacrosse FAQ

 

Who is Clippers Lacrosse Club? 
Clippers Lacrosse Club is a travel lacrosse program in partnership with Crofton Athletic Council managed and operated by Eighteen Twelve, LLC.

Who is Eighteen Twelve, LLC?
Based in Annapolis, Eighteen Twelve has built some of the most recognized and competitive lacrosse platforms in youth and high school lacrosse with Team Eighteen, Eighteen National and Sonics Lacrosse Club.

Was Sidewinders Lacrosse Club sold?

No, this is a new partnership (as described above) between the Crofton Athletic Council and Eighteen Twelve to operate the club.

Will this have any impact on the remainder of the 2022/2023 Sidewinders season?

No, the current season will finish as planned, but you may see new Clippers LC coaches observing practices from time to time as we transition.

How will Clippers Lacrosse Club be different? 
Clippers will embody a community feel and culture of Sidewinders with the infrastructure to support the growing needs of the of our athletes.

 

Will the Sidewinders Girls program be transitioned as well?

To be determined in future years but as of now only the boys program will be making the transition.


How will this change impact my son? 
There will be no significant changes.  Similar to Sidewinders, Clippers will develop a year-round lacrosse program centered around player development.  Additional coaches, resources, and opportunities for players to compete at varying levels will be established.

I liked the community feel of Sidewinders, do we lose that with Clippers? 
The community is central to Clippers Lacrosse Club. Clippers will have a full time Director and Assistant Director with access to some biggest names in the game to focus on player development and growing the game right here in our community.  We are excited to provide the program with the full-time support that it deserves! 

Where will we practice? 
Clippers Lacrosse Club will utilize Bell Branch Park, Crofton High School and Crofton Middle School.

Will there be new coaches? 
Clippers will add new coach where support is needed, but will also retain coaches to stay involved and continue to work with their teams.

 

Will Sidewinders leadership continue to be involved?

Yes, many of those involved in Sidewinders over the years and ingrained in the lacrosse community will be very involved with the Clippers as coaches and in an ongoing advisory capacity.

Will Clippers have a high school program?
Clippers will establish High School teams with a program tailored to support players as they compete at the high school level and beyond.


Clippers, what is in the name?
The clipper is a fast sailing ship historically built on the mid-Atlantic seaboard and very commonly spotted in the port of Baltimore in the 18th and 19th centuries.
