By Jack Gunther, 07/14/19, 8:15PM EDT

We are excited to announce that Paul Gillette, former midfielder for the University of Maryland, has agreed to coach Sidewinders 2026.  Coach Gillette was a team captain, 3rd team All-American, and an academic All-American while playing for the Terps. He played in all 61 games during his four-year career and finished 5th on Maryland’s all-time ground ball list. Coach Gillette also won the first annual "Big Man Award" named after coach Dick Edell, as the player who exemplifies selfless and positive qualities. After college, Coach Gillette played professionally for the Boston Cannons (2005 and 2007) and the Bayhawks (2006) of Major League Lacrosse. Coach Gillette currently lives in the Arnold area with his wife and 4 sons. He is a physical education teacher with Anne Arundel County Public Schools and has coached a variety of youth sports over the years. Gillette’s coaching philosophy is for players to work hard as a team, demonstrate sportsmanship, persevere, have fun, and be coachable. Once those things are in place, improving skills and grasping an understanding of the game will naturally occur.   Welcome Coach Gillette!
